The nose is a key feature of the face.

Dissatisfaction arising from its contour, size and shape can have a detrimental impact on your psychological well being and the way in which you interact with others.

You don’t have to stare at what you consider to be an ugly nose.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty is designed to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing nose that is proportionate, thereby creating overall facial harmony.

The goal of rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is to change and improve the shape of the nose.

Dr. Izquierdo tries to achieve an elegant but subtle change in the nose commensurate with your other facial features.

More than 11,000 patients agree:

Face and Body Plastic Surgery is different.

Over the years we’ve watched fad treatments and cosmetic crazes come and go. But when the fads have failed, the crazes died out, and people just want something that works…they turn to us.

Your Rhinoplasty Consultation

During your consultation, Dr. Izquierdo will discuss all your options based on his examination. Dr. Izquierdo tries to achieve an elegant but subtle change in the nose commensurate with your other facial features.

Your Rhinoplasty Procedure

Rhinoplasty can be performed either via a closed or open approach. The closed, or endonasal method, has no external scars.  All the incisions to access the items to be reshaped are internal.  This method is indicated in patients that have minimal to moderate deformities and have not had previous surgery.

The open rhinoplasty will leave a usually imperceptible scar across the columella between the nostrils.  This method is used for cases that are more complex or in patients that have had previous rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty typically requires one and one half to two and one half hours to complete.  A splint is placed on the nose to stabilize the changes made during the surgery.  You may have packing in each nostril.  Bruising is not uncommon.  Final results typically require 6-12 months of healing and softening.

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Most people are able to return to work within 4-10 days after rhinoplasty surgery. Minimizing and avoiding intense activity for 3 weeks is best for optimal healing. Factors that affect the functional and cosmetic outcomes include the individual anatomy of the nose, adjacent tissues, skin elasticity quality, as well as age.

Because of the difference in nasal skin thickness and the healing of modified cartilage and bone, final result for a rhinoplasty may not be appreciated until six to twelve months after surgery.

Risks involve infection, possible asymmetry, changes in airflow, and chronic functional changes.

Are Celebrity Nose Jobs Better Than What Anyone Can Get

Are Celebrities Nose Job Better Than What Anyone Can Get

Some patients will come to me and show me photos of what they would like to look like after the rhinoplasty and in general they will bring a celebrity or other person that they want the contours to emulate. In my practice I tell them that we can’t control many of these things and contours depending on what your natural bony structure is. We certainly don’t strive to make a certain nose for people but we try to understand what the patient wants and how we can achieve a natural and soft contour.

Dorsal Hump Reduction Nose Surgery to Improve Nasal Profile

Dorsal Hump Reduction Nose Surgery to Improve Nasal Profile

Some patients will ask me to just have a dorsal hump reduction and a lot depends on the remainder of the contour of the nose. The hump in many people can be quite large and we can certainly straighten that hump but at times the bones in the upper part of the nose need to be changed also so that they will coincide and look more natural with the hump reduction.

How is a tip rhinoplasty different from other rhinoplasties

How Is a Tip Rhinoplasty Different From Other Rhinoplasties

A Tip Rhinoplasty is usually performed on a patient who has reasonably good bony structure in the upper part of the nose but may have a distortion at the tip of the nose where there is a conjunction of the cartilages and the septum. At times these will produce a bulky tip on a rather thin nose so that we will address the tip only by decreasing its volume and shape.

How Soon After Rhinoplasty Can I Fly or Exercise

How Soon After Phinoplasty Can I Fly or Exercise

Patients ask me how soon they can fly after rhinoplasty and I usually tell them it’s at least 2 to 3 weeks solely because the elevation that an airplane flies and the pressurized cabin is at 5000 feet which is the height of Denver Colorado. So that if you try to fly sooner than that you will certainly have discomfort in your nose and face because of the swelling that will occur during the flight.

Non-surgical Nose Job Procedures to Reduce Nose Size

Non-Surgical Nose Job Procedures

There are no non-surgical nose job procedures to reduce an enlarged nose by definition. A large nose will require changing the contours in the shape of the bones and this requires a surgical approach.

Nose Surgery Addressing a Nose With a Bulbous Tip

Nose Surgery Addressing a Nose Bulbous Tip

Some patients have what we call bulbous tip which look like a round large protrusion at the end of their nose. These patients require a different type of procedure where the cartilages at the base of the nose are modified to produce a smaller but still smooth contour to both the tip and the nose. Many times these procedures are done open meaning that there’s a small incision along the lower part of the nose and the skin is lifted up much like opening your car hood but that way we can directly address and shape and conform the new tip for a better contour.

What are the signs and symptoms of a broken nose

What Are the Signs and Symptoms of a Broken Nose

Patients who have had a broken nose will require evaluation of both the internal and external portions of the nose. In general when there is a broken nose you can feel the step off as we call it or the difference in protrusion of certain bones on the dorsum of the nose or even in the lateral cheek in the in the cheek areas. Likewise we look inside the nose to see if the septum and other internal portions are involved.

What Is an Ethnic Rhinoplasty

What Is Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Well an ethnic rhinoplasty is rhinoplasty performed on patients who do not have a Caucasian nose. Certainly those patients have their ideas of what their nose should look like and certainly we can change the contours of the nose. But at the same time one has to realize that whatever changes we are making we have to make sure that they coincide with the rest of their face, so that they look more natural and they look undone.

What is the Ideal Age for a Rhinoplasty

What is The Ideal Age for a Rhinoplasty

Patients usually will ask me, what is the ideal age for a rhinoplasty? And in general we like to limit it to the age of 15 to 16 at the least and ideally usually into the early twenties. And the reason is because the nose will change in most patients up to the early to mid-twenties.

What is the typical rhinoplasty recovery like

What is The Typical Rhinoplasty Recovery Like

Patients who have rhinoplasty will require approximately one week to recover there will be swelling in that area, there will be bruising most of the time my patience will have a splint or a little cast on their nose to keep the portions of the bones that we moved in the right alignment. That cast is then removed at a week and as I tell all my patients especially with rhinoplasty it will take up to six months or more to get to see your final result.

What to Expect During a Rhinoplasty Consultation

What to Expect During a Rhinoplasty Consultation

During a rhinoplasty consultation I will sit with my patient and ask what their concerns are what they see what they would like changed? Once we discuss those portions we will then take a look and I will examine the nose both internally and externally. Then we’ll review what I see and what we can address depending on the patient’s wishes.

What's Most Attractive in a Male Nose

What’s Most Attractive in a Male Nose.

A male nose should look more straighter than a female nose. And much depends on the other facial features. When I look at a patient on a male he just wishes to just remove the hump. At times in removing the hump we also have to modify portions of the tip but at the same time we don’t want to make him more effeminate by reducing the hump to a curvilinear ski slope type of look. So for men we usually will keep the nose rather straight but we can make it look less wide and also defined the tip if there is a bulky area to the tip.
