Your Breast Reduction Procedure

The procedure reduces the size and weight of the breasts as well as lifts the breasts. The nipple is moved to a higher position and the breast is shaped into a more youthful contour.  Breast Reduction takes three to four hours, and is performed in an ambulatory surgery center under general anesthesia.

Many insurance companies have a protocol to follow for eligibility for insurance coverage.  You should contact your carrier to receive the information pertinent to your particular problem.

Breast Reduction Recovery

You will be seen on the first post operative day, then two to five days after surgery.  Those patients with children needing close attention, are encouraged to acquire additional or surrogate help for their child care during the early post operative period. Scars will fade over a three to six months.  On rare occasions complications can arise such as infection, loss of nipple sensation, and thickened scars.  Most patients after breast reduction surgery are very happy with the results.
